Former Wisconsin Priest Convicted of Child Sex Crimes Under Plea Agreement, WMTV Reports

Oct. 15, 2026 · WMTV 15 News

A former Catholic priest from Madison, Wisconsin, was convicted this week of child sex crimes in Waupaca County, WMTV reported. The station reported that the conviction came through a plea agreement under which several other counts against him were dismissed, and that a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027.

According to WMTV, the former priest still faces separate accusations in Marathon County, including attempted grooming of a child and bail jumping. The station also reported that the Diocese of Madison removed him from the priesthood in June, saying he would no longer be permitted to function as a priest.

Other Wisconsin outlets reporting on the same hearing described the counts as including possession of child pornography, attempted child enticement and attempted second-degree sexual assault, and traced the case to his 2025 arrest in Clintonville. Readers can find the full details of the plea and the pending case in WMTV's reporting at the source link.
